Get Ready for Your Tattoo Adventure!
Before you sit in the chair and let the magic happen, here are some pro tips to make your tattoo session smooth and stress-free.
✅ Fuel Up & Hydrate – Eat a solid meal and drink plenty of water before your appointment. If you’re in for a longer session, bring a snack and a sports drink to keep your energy up. No one wants to pass out mid-session—especially me!
🚫 Skip the Booze & Buzz – No alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or caffeine before your appointment! These thin your blood, which is no bueno for tattooing. Also, it’s literally illegal for me to tattoo you if you’re tipsy. So, save the celebratory drinks for after!
👕 Dress for Success – Wear loose, comfy clothing that gives easy access to the tattoo area. If I have to wrestle your outfit just to get to your skin, we’ve got a problem.
🛁 Pre-Tattoo Skin Care – Exfoliate and moisturize the morning of your appointment to keep your skin happy and prepped. Avoid sunburns like the plague—crispy skin is a no-go for tattooing.
🏋️ Take it Easy on the Gym Gains – Give those muscles a rest a couple of days before your appointment. Sore, tense muscles + tattoo needles = not a fun time.
Tattoo Aftercare: Keep That Ink Looking Fresh!
Your new tattoo is basically a fresh wound (a super cool one), so let’s treat it right!
1~Keep It Covered
I’ll clean and bandage your tattoo before you leave. For standard bandage wait a two to three hours before taking of and proceeding with washing instructions. For Clear bandage ( Dermsheild, Saniderm, Tegaderm etc.) wait 2-4 days before taking of. Do Not Pop or Drain The Fluid That Will Fill The Bandage. Do Not Scrub Over The Bandage While Showering. So Not Submerge The Bandage In Any Water. If the bandage starts to leak or if the bandage lifts open, take the bandage off immediately and follow the rest of aftercare
2~Wash Gently
Once it’s time, wash your hands with Dial Gold Liquid Antibacterial Hand Soap, then gently clean your tattoo with lukewarm water and more Dial Gold soap. No scrubbing, no hot or cold water! Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Repeat twice a day for the next couple of weeks.
3~Moisturize, But Don’t Overdo It
After washing, apply a thin layer of an unscented, non-petroleum-based lotion like Lubriderm, CeraVe, or Aveeno two to three times a day. Keep it breathable—too much lotion suffocates the healing skin!
4~Sunlight is the Enemy
For the first 2-4 weeks, avoid direct sunlight like a vampire. Cover your tattoo with loose clothing if you’re outside. Once it’s fully healed, sunscreen is your best friend to keep your ink from fading.
5~Take It Easy
Light activity is okay after 48 hours but hold off on hardcore workouts for two to three weeks. If you break a sweat, clean your tattoo ASAP.
6~Let It Breathe
Avoid tight clothing over your fresh tattoo—rubbing and irritation can mess with the healing process. Stick to breathable fabrics!
7~Hands Off the Scabs!
Scabbing? Totally normal. Picking? Absolutely not. Let it heal naturally to avoid scarring or ruining your new tattoo.
8~No Swimming!
Stay out of pools, hot tubs, lakes, and oceans for 2-3 weeks (or until all scabs are gone). Showers are fine—just don’t soak your tattoo or scrub the clear bandage if you’re using one.
Follow these steps, and your new tattoo will heal beautifully! Got questions? Just ask—I'm here to make sure your ink stays as stunning as the day you got it. Happy healing! 🎉
